WELCOME !

Sara and I have decided to research Personalities Disorders. There are many different type of disorders, therefor we have decided to research Narcissism in depth. This disorder is more common in men and affects 1 to 2 percent of the population. Since the 1970's there has been an increase of self esteem. As time has gone on and years have passed, social media has helped this become more prevalent due to self promotion.
According to the Mayo Clinic, one must have severe symptoms that disrupt social and work life for it to be diagnosed as a disorder. This diagnosis is usually left for adults due to the fact that children usually have self centered attitudes, which is a normal part of development. The most common type of treatment for this is Psycho Therapy since it takes a more verbal approach.
Although the most popular disorders were obsessive-compulsive, paranoid personality, and antisocial personality, we decided to focus on a less popular disorder, narcissistic personality disorder.

"There are apparently two variants with Trump being of the thick-skinned overt type who can't be 'socially charming despite being oblivious to the needs of others and inter-personally exploitative'" -James Le Fanu

Personality Disorders are grouped into three different clusters.

A person dealing with this disorder only cares about themselves. They lie to make themselves look better and think that they are very special and important.

People who have narcissistic personality disorder think that everything is about them. They don't care about others, just themselves.

Since the 1970's it has been said that we, as a society, have become more self centered. This is one of the traits that people with a narcissistic disorder have. Ted talks are known to be very educational, we chose this video because it explains this disorder in a quick fun way.
